Weekly Wrap-Up — Presence, Youth Ministry, and the Little Things That Matter
It’s Saturday — a good day to look back over the week and notice not just what we posted, but what might have been forming in you as you read, paused, reflected, and lived.
Here’s a walk-through of this week’s posts — and an invitation to let these reflections settle into your life and leadership.
Monday — The Opportunities God Brings, Not the Ones We Chase
We began the week with a reminder that ministry and leadership are not things we pursue relentlessly, but things we receive as God places them in our path. Monday’s post invited us to slow down, step away from frantic forward momentum, and pay attention to what God is already saying and doing in the places we’re planted.
(A focus on presence over pursuit.)
Tuesday — Why I Stopped Running After Leadership
On Tuesday we got personal and leadership-specific. I shared a season of my own life where I learned that chasing leadership opportunities—even with the best intentions—can pull us away from the very people and responsibilities God has already entrusted to us. The post challenged us to stop equating influence with visibility and to steward faithfully where we are before running toward what we think is next.
(A challenge toward faithful presence in leadership.)
Wednesday — Be Content to Be Faithful
Midweek was an invitation to re-orient our hearts. Sometimes the spiritual rhythm that sustains us is simple: be faithful where you are. Wednesdays often hit us with the reality of the week, and this reflection reminded us that faithfulness isn’t something we outgrow, but something we live into. Contentment in obedience can be far more formative than striving for visibility.
(Re-anchoring in faithful presence.)
Thursday — Stop Running After Youth Ministry
Thursday shifted the focus back to the specific context of youth ministry. We talked about how student formation isn’t driven by the newest idea, the flashiest event, or the next big thing. It’s shaped by consistency, predictable environments, and steady presence with students and leaders. The post invited us to steward what’s right in front of us — resisting comparison, resisting the lure of novelty, and investing in the people and places God has already given us.
(Youth ministry grounded in consistency.)
Friday — Behind the Mic on a Friday Night
We closed the week with a lighter, more joyful reflection — a reminder that some of the best moments in life aren’t planned; they find us when we’re present enough to receive them. Behind the mic at a wrestling meet, I remembered how ordinary places can bring unexpected joy and teach us to slow down and enjoy where we are.
(Joy in the ordinary — presence over performance.)
What God Might Be Whispering to You This Weekend
If there’s a theme threading through this week, it might be this:
God is more interested in forming us where we are than in rushing us toward what’s next.
Presence matters before pursuit.
Faithfulness matters before visibility.
Consistency matters before creativity.
Joy matters before performance.
The question isn’t, “What should we add?”
Maybe it’s, “What have we already been given that we need to invest in more deeply?”
A Weekend Question Worth Sitting With
Before the week begins again, take a breath and ask:
What is one thing God placed in front of you this week — maybe unexpectedly — that brought you joy, taught you something, or reminded you to slow down and receive life instead of pursuing it?
Sit with that. Talk about it with someone. Or just let it be a quiet place of gratitude in the midst of the weekend.
See you next week.
